Hanson Ranch

Santa Barbara County

Landowners Desire to Keep the Property Whole and in Cattle Ranching

The Hanson ranch encompasses 14,032 acres of gently rolling hills and valleys between steep canyons covered with grasses. This easement protects critical habitat for the California red-legged frog, and several bird species including the red-tailed hawk. The ranch also contains important riparian and watershed habitat that is home to numerous species of wildlife and native plants, safeguards scenic views of Highway 101 and Highway 1, and protects 6-8 stream crossings on the property and headwater drainage to the Santa Ynez River and Gaviota Creek.
