Marshall Cook, Transaction Director

June 17, 2010
The California Rangeland Trust hired Marshall Cook as their new Transaction Director.  In that position, Marshall will manage the conservation easement transactions that preserve rangelands throughout California. He will also serve as the California Rangeland Trust’s principal staff liaison with interested landowners and conservation partners.

Marshall has a background with real estate law, marketing and finance. He earned an undergraduate degree in marketing from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, UT, and a law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, CA. He came to the California Rangeland Trust from the law firm McDonough Holland & Allen, PC where he was an attorney in the firm’s real estate practice group. Prior to practicing law and working in the corporate finance and marketing sectors, he served this country in the United States Army, 3rd Infantry Regiment, “The Old Guard,” Fort Meyer, Arlington, VA.

“The Rangeland Trust has a dedicated conservation team that, under Marshall’s leadership, will expand our current efforts on a statewide scale. His experience in real estate law and marketing gives him a unique skill set that will benefit the cattlemen and women who have committed to conserving their land through the Rangeland Trust,” said Steve McDonald, California Rangeland Trust Board Chairman.

Filling the Transaction Director position compliments the organization’s efforts to secure rangelands and foster conservation partnerships necessary to conserve environmentally critical property.

“I have the highest respect for California’s ranchers and I’m very excited to be on board with the California Rangeland Trust.” said Marshall. “I look forward to preserving rangeland and keeping ranching families on their properties.”
